1st Annual Carowinds Car Show

Location: Carowinds Amusement Part in Charlotte, NC
Time: June 20th and 21st all day event

The 1st Annual Carowinds Car Show introduced a wide showing of classic and custom collectable cars. In walking throughout the park you would witness groups of classics with the main show located in the near the entrance into the Carowinds Amusement Part.

The show brought together classic car enthusiasts and spectators who are unaware of the collector car hobby. This was a great way to introduce the our exciting hobby to the public, and tell the stories behind each collectable car. The younger generation had a eye popping thrill while glancing inside and outside of each classic car. The concept of having groups of classics positioned in various spots in the park was exciting, and it provides a unique way to grow the interest of the hobby to a new audience.

The security for the classics was top of mind during the show event. A security guard was assigned to each grouping of classics, and Do Not Touch signs were placed on each classic car. The detail to the care of the collector car was truly appreciated.

If you're looking for a true family filled event then this was the show for you!

Congratulations to Koss Motorsports for having a successful event. Please log onto http://www.kossmotorsports.com/ for further show information.

  1. I am from the era that really appreciates muscle cars. My husband still owns a 1967 Olds 442. Allow me to tell you the colorful history of this car.
In 1968, my husband was a junior in college. I was working on my PHT (Putting Hubby Thru) and money was really tight. He had always wanted a Corvette and planned to buy one when he graduated. At that time the local Chevy dealer had a special financing plan for college seniors that allowed them to purchase a new car and pay only the interest until graduation. We had counted our pennies, nickles and dimes and had concluded that if we lived on a bare minimum of everything, we could swing it. To cut to the chase, he ordered his new Corvette. A couple of weeks later, I went for a check up. SURPRISE!!! I was pronounced very pregnant. Needless to say, there went the Vette.
My husband was very thrilled over our baby-to-be, but very disappointed over the loss of his Vette. No man should have to go thru that, but he went down to the Chevy place and canceled the order. We still needed a car, but one with more than 2 seats.
While there, he spotted a beautiful red an black 1967 Oldsmobile 442. We went for a test drive, and he was hooked.
We bought it and in December of that year our daughter was born. My husband still calls her his little Corvette.
During the next few months, I became really good on the 4-speed and gained a reputation for putting down some formidable hot rods:GTO, Super Bee. Road Runner, Trans Am, etc. It really crushed some guys egos to be beaten off the line at a traffic light by a little mama with a baby in the car seat.
We both loved that car and it became part of our family and our icon.
We drove it for many years, but gradually it fell into disrepair and we finally parked it with a promise that it would one day be Resurrected.
For various reasons, that has not happened. My husband is a very caring and generous person and on several occasions has given the "Resurrection Fund" to someone in need. He had hoped to make it his retirement project; however, he recentlyhad a stroke which limits what he can do physically. He has also been diagnosed with cancer and is undergoing radiation treatments. So even though the likelihood of his restoring his beloved 442 are very slim, he still talks about an dreams about it.
When I thought about how extensive the internet is, I came to believe that there are some old-school muscle car lovers like us who could not stand to see such a proud vehicle bite the dust. so I am asking if there is anyone out there who will help me in resurrecting a car and a dream. My husband knows nothing about this, so I plan to surprise him. Please let me know if you are willing to help
    Thank you for your consideration
